THE LICENSEE

RESMI Dema, licensee of the Glasshouse Tavern on Crown St, has added his voice to the growing calls for a permanent late-night bus service from Wollongong's CBD.

"We would most definitely support an all-year-round bus service," Mr Dema said.

"It would be good if it also travelled to the southern suburbs, places like Dapto and Shellharbour."

The Glasshouse is operated by the RDL Group, which has an expanding portfolio of pubs and clubs in Wollongong.

The group also owns the Harp, Castro's, Abbey's, Ivory and the soon to reopen Bourbon St.

Mr Dema said it was important that licensees helped provide transport for patrons, and described the Summer Bus as a more affordable option than taxis.

"The bus is another way of getting home, without paying exorbitant cab fares - a lot of kids can't afford $40 taxi fares.

"Our company contributes to the Summer Bus ... we think it's good for the community and is an important service - but we'd be very happy to see it expanded."
